Today's spotlight is on Jon, who tested HIV positive in April of 2001. Jon was infected by man who was—at the time—the love of his life. He says, "Someone once told me that the greatest contributor to the spread of HIV isn’t ignorance, it’s love. I am living proof of that. In order to demonstrate my love for this man, I was willing to repeatedly risk my life. This was exacerbated by my complete lack of information and inability to see past my own invincibleness."
After testing positive things looked bleak for Jon. He began using crystal meth, had no job and was living on a friend’s couch. "I had nothing. I was nothing," he says. But then things changed. "One day I opened my eyes, and for the first time in years I could see clearly. I decided that I wanted to live. It was at this point that I really started to take my health seriously."
